So I haven't posted in a while, so this naturally is a must-read. (This means you, Facebook denziens.)

I especially wanted to write tonight because it finally hit me today that this is not a dream. Dylan and I went to Jersey -- the NJ transit tickets were pricey, sure, but the show itself was free, and we went grocery shopping afterward. Getting cans of Spaghettios for a dollar when they are $2.50 here was GREAT. But I was riding with Dylan on the train away from the city, and while I've been out of Manhattan, I haven't actually been out of the city since I moved. To see it from that far away...to actually be out of it, it made sense that I was going away from it but that was home. I would be returning. I cried a little bit. (OK, I cried a lot.)

Everything is culturally different here in New York. This definitely includes how you get around; people don't care if you're late to work because the 6 was delayed. They expect you to find out and to plan accordingly. Even when there's a blizzard. This could be an issue...but I'll just have to roll with it. I will have to figure out what I'm doing about the job front; having a job in a different borough means that getting to work is interesting (especially when said borough is not connected to the subway).

Speaking of which, my book Steel Angel is finally available on Kindle! It's also available on Lulu as an ePub file, and it will eventually be on the Nook website (it's taking longer than I had hoped). The link is at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005NWFDTI -- can you do me a favor, if you have a Kindle? If you buy the book (it's only 2.99), can you review it? I mean, read it first. But review it, and be honest. Don't just rate it five stars because you're my friend. Any review is much appreciated.

Now for more serious news -- I think somebody got a hold of my debit card number during the whole move process, because next thing I know Chase calls me up asking if I've been to Brazil lately. O.o They shut my debit card down, along with the unauthorized charges, and they're mailing me a new one. Not only that, but the customer rep on the phone opened up the ATM in Times Square so I could get some cash. (My checking account itself is fine, but most places won't accept out of state checks -- I haven't gotten my new ones yet. I should be fine for rent this month, writing a check from Ohio, though. Everything else can wait for the new card.)

I will end for now with an image of a footless pidgeon...yes, there is such a thing. It still has a leg, just no foot...but it hops around and flies just like any other pidgeon. It just keeps going without focusing on it. I think that's New York City.
