2012's End Of Year Review
2013's End Of Year Review
Are you ready? The rest of your life starts now!
1. What did you do in 2014 that you'd never done before?:
I kept a job for an entire year in the same location! Had my own booth at Comic-Con. Rented a car! Learned how to do things on my own again. Bought a computer.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Nope! Screw the Grand Master List.
3. Where did you ring in 2014?
At Amy's friend's place in Brooklyn, which annoyed me because I wanted to see the ball drop and nobody else did. It worked out okay, though.
4. What date from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?:
October 4th. I wound up a music box at Kings Dominion in Virginia and it became too, too true to me, that reality isn't what I make it to be and dreams do come true.
5. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?:
I was 26! I went to Mitsuwa and got all the HappinessCharge things. Then I met up with Garo and we went to the High Line.
6. What was your status by Valentines Day?
Taken, and I don't really remember doing anything. Working?
7. Were you in school (anytime this year)?
No, and I'm still not ready to go back to school, apparently. I wish I would just do this already.
8. How did you earn your keep?
NOXY HOLLA
9. Did you suffer illness or injury?:
Nope, yay.
10. What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?:
Realizing the above -- surprises just kept coming out of nowhere. I kept going "Wait, I thought you hated me!" and people being "actually, no." Which then enabled me to stop caring so much, so when people did shit on my face, I could just leave and be like "whatever."
11. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?:
Not really any this year.
12. What political issue stirred you the most?:
The police brutality issue, though I'm still not sure where I stand on that. I think that's mostly because I'm white and scared.
13. Where did most of your money go?:
Rent. Still still. Dropped a lot of money on Dorney Park for Hyper Day and then into our trip to Phoenix.
14. What was your favorite TV program?:
AIDORUUUUUU KATSUDOOUUUUUUU GO GO LET'S GOOOOO
15. What was your favorite film of this year?:
I WENT TO GO SEE BIG HERO 6 TWICE
16. What was the best book you read?:
I'm not done with The Body Electric yet but IT IS SO GOOD GUYS. Also, Return to the Castle by Rose Catherine Khan.
17. What was your greatest musical discovery?:
Waffling back and forth between music and writing again, guys, I suck so hard at this.
18. Did anyone close to you give birth?:
Sarah will this year, but otherwise nope.
19. Did anyone close to you die?:
Thank God, no.
20. What countries -- ahem, states -- did you visit?:
Arizona!!! DC/Virginia for KD, Pennsylvania for Dorney. Ohio, as usual, along with North Carolina.
21. What was your biggest achievement of the year?:
The booth at Comic-Con. Most of it went so good, and we got the books into so many hands this year. I was really proud of the way it all went. Plus, I found out who has my back and who doesn't when it comes to managing a booth.
22. What was your biggest failure?:
Losing my flash drive during our bedbug invasion, and using that as an excuse to kill Dvorak's momentum.
23. Compared to this time last year, are you…
i. thinner or fatter?: fatter because for several reasons
ii. richer or poorer?: about the same
24. What do you wish you'd done more of?:
Working out. Writing music. Collaborating with other artists. Asserting myself.
25. What do you wish you'd done less of?:
Sleeping. Worrying. Being depressed, though that I can't change. Eating. Doing the Facebook-Twitter-Tumblr loop. Being lethargic. Blaming others.
26. How will you be spending Christmas next December?:
I actually really do want to be in Ohio next Christmas. That way, I can have my dad force Garo to watch all those damned Christmas specials he doesn't want to watch. Nyah.
27. Did you fall in love in 2014?
It's not that I fell in love -- I think I fell in love a bit more with myself, despite it all. I figured out truths, more like it. I realized that some people who loved me that I thought were gone weren't actually gone at all.
28. How many one-night stands?:
Nope.
29. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?:
Still hate 'him.' Asshole. I actually hate a lot less people. Hate people who start drama, but that's about it. I am finding I'm liking and hating the right people.
30. What did you get really, really, really excited about?:
Going to Dorney. Going to KD. Going to Phoenix! I think I know what I like, guys XD
31. What did you want and get?:
Sleep. Garo to do what I wanted him to. My power back, though I usually didn't use it the way I wanted. Truth.
32. What did you want and not get?:
Confidence. Something so trivial I'm glad I didn't. My way.
33. What was your best month?
October. KD, NYCC, going home -- even though there were bugs on top of it all, it was amazing and fun and wow.
34. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?:
The willpower to make a goal and stick to it. And not just a small goal -- I mean a life changing goal, a goal that will alter the course of my history for better or worse. Note to Emily: GO BACK TO GRAD SCHOOL, YOU ASSHOLE.
35. How would you rate this year with a scale from 1 (shitty) to 10 (excellent)?
8.
36. What's something you learned about yourself in 2014?
Realized thank God that my life is not as sucky as I've been making it out to be. This year has been a year of learning, and less of action. It's true that I create my reality, but it's not true that I can decide how everybody else treats me. People will either go or stay depending on them, not me. And they might not leave for good, either. Life is complicated, but that's okay. Rant over.
37. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?:
BLACK SWEATPANTS, BLACK SHIRTS, BLACK JACKETS, ALL BLACK EVERYTHING
38. What kept you sane?:
Garo again. He has a habit of doing that, doesn't he?
39. Who did you miss?:
People who weren't worth missing.
40. Who was the best new person you met?:
I re-met Kariel, and I'm so glad I did. People at work. Rose Cat!
41. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014.
The people you love will always be with you, because they will always be a part of you, for better or worse. Also: you are in control of your own life. And love is possible. And miracles do happen.
42. What song will always remind you of 2014?:
"Overtime" by Cash Cash. I knew the answer to that back in February!
43. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"And though I know, since you've awakened her again
She depends on you
She depends on you
I'll go alone, and never speak of this again
We depend on you
We depend on you"
Also: "Everybody's here because they love you
The city tonight is a diamond of light put on a string that you're wearing."
44. What Quotes sum up the year?:
"If the phoenix bird can fly, then so can I."
