So I wake up this morning to find that the Copyright office has emailed me regarding my registration on RMN. Why does it take them so long to get back to me about stuff? Anyway, they said something about the Apple loops and having to do the copyright correctly on that, since I don't actually own the loops (but I can use them, royalty-free -- Apple makes that clear).
So because of that, I'm at a bit of a loss. What do I do as far as the loops? I can't completely omit them; they're the way I composed a *lot* in college. Even today, when I've got the Midi capability back, I still use the drum tracks because I fail at life on creating my own. The only solution I can really think of is creating drum tracks with the 530 -- which I'm actually not bad at, though I haven't done it for years. But I don't really want to stop using the drum tracks just yet. If Apple provides those loops for us, paying customers, to use, shouldn't we be able to use them? And why does the Copyright office have to throw a fit now, when they had no issue with YYLA?
Oh, and one more thing -- the copyright office is requesting an answer in twenty days, or they're trashing my request. Of course I'm gonna comply, I just think it's amusing that it takes them more than a year to process the request and I have twenty days. That's all. I'm not going to take RMN down or anything like that; to do so would be stupid.
(What about the people who compose music for TV with Apple loops? What about my favorite soundtrack? It clearly uses Apple loops. What the deuce?)
Spring means Coney Island. Dang, I still want to go. Dylan, if you're reading this, I want to find some cafe or store or something where I can see the Cyclone and write WLCI some more.
Today is gone. Off I go to a meeting.
