This entry is all about my recent trip to New York City. It was awesome, and you should really read more if you want to hear all about it.

My hair could really use a brush. I'm tired, and everything feels kind of numb, but other than that, I'm good. Tomorrow we head out for New Jersey. I have mixed feelings about leaving the city. Here I completely forget about my crazy night job. Here the voices disappear almost completely. They can't tell me not to go if I actually go.

We took the train in (and I almost missed the connecting train -- dang you bathrooms!) and found our way to the hotel, where we couldn't check in but we were able to leave Dylan's bag there. From there we went to the Nintendo World store. It was pretty small but had a lot of fun stuff there.

And I made a new friend. (I'll have more pictures after Dylan uploads them.)

We then went to Grand Central Station, where we met up with Windy ([livejournal.com profile] pomona) and got food at this cute little Japanese place. I got Hi-Chew. And then we met up with one of Dylan's acquaintances, who not only has worked with screenplays and what not but is also a published author. I learned a lot from her, especially when it comes to confidence with my writing. It was very inspirational.

Then we walked around and got to Kinokuniya, where I got Japanese manga...written in Japanese (got the start of the PokeSpe DPPt chapter -- which I can check myself on because Viz just released it. Then when we went to finally check into the hotel, it turned out that they didn't have a room for us regardless of reservation, so we went to the Essex instead. I got to ride in a cab for the first time (like) ever, and the room was awesome. We went to dinner twice and saw Avenue Q at the New World Stages, then fell asleep.

Now for the full story on Coney Island (minus the important stuff, of course). I had figured nothing would be open, so I was okay with just checking things out. I mean, we're talking about the Holy Land of coaster-dom here, of course I'm going to be back. But it truly was beautiful. You can see where the new Luna Park has just taken everything over in a good way -- to me, it still looks hackeyed and thrown together, with the Cyclone off to the side. I don't know what they're going to do with everything else -- I've heard they're going to clear it all out and put up more apartments or something. That obviously needs to quit.

It was pretty dead, but my main reason for going to Coney Island was still there -- an hour and a half on the Q train for an empty lot on the corner of Surf and 16th. I didn't get any souvenirs from Coney, save for a leaf taken from this property. What belonged there? What still lies there? We'll just have to wait and see.

What will tomorrow bring? Will birds sing?
