090911 -- Moving Right Along
Sep. 9th, 2011 08:28 pmNew hashtag! Gotta love it.
My dad's not coming with my stuff tomorrow. September 11th is basically eating the city alive, so it ended up being a bad idea. I'm kind of glad, because now that means that he can go see Steph play at the Crew stadium, but...I kind of want something better to sleep on than the floor. But he said I could go buy an air mattress. I will do that tomorrow.
My roommate is amazing and awesome (welcome to MemR, Em!). She's out in Connecticut this weekend, though, at a concert. I went crazy in the apartment with no food, no dishes, no bed, and nobody to talk to, so I'm actually at Dylan's. I grabbed a Dew on the way, which makes me really happy. I like being here because I can sit on a couch and there is TV, despite the fact that I'm watching a random college football game XD
Yeah, I basically love it here, even though it's frustrating sometimes. It did take about an hour and a half to get to work -- I care more about time when it comes to going, not coming. It'll be interesting to see how I get home later on at night, though. I'll be working on that shift trade thing ASAP -- no offense to anybody else, just for my safety. :) I secretly hope that Dylan will be able to meet me at least at the subway, though this idea is horribly far-fetched and I need to learn how to be smart on my own.
The ferry is very nice and the smoothest out of the three rides. The bus rubbed off on me wrong at first -- I missed my stop -- but I became more accustomed to it. Still, the subway > the bus for me for several reasons:
1: the noises of the subway remind me of coasters and therefore are quite soothing and rhythmic,
2: there is more space on subways,
3: more subway trains run than buses.
Staten Island reminds me of Cincinnati and Dayton, without the skyscrapers, put on puree and located in Sandusky. The work building was kind of hidden around some trees, and I freaked out at first trying to find it, but I got super happy when I found it. Finally, after two and a half days of new-new-new, something really stinking familiar.
I have pictures! This is the view outside my window at night:

And this is the view of Manhattan from the Staten Island ferry:

Enjoy.
